Normally the cornea at the front of the eye is a round shape but in astigmatism, it takes on the shape of a rugby ball.

Most people have some degree of astigmatism and in some people, it needs correcting and others it doesn’t. If left uncorrected it may cause blurriness of vision and headaches.

Glasses may need to be worn part time or full time depending on how much the vision is affected.
